Baptism! -- Week 21

Wow, so many things this week. First I ate pigs feet and duck jaw...which is basically just the tongue and then the beak. I would not recommend.....like it was fun to try but just weird.

Also on Sunday Ofelia got baptized!!! It was so amazing. She is the cutest girl. She has a lot of struggles in her life, but you can just see how Heavenly Father has prepared her. We have been so blessed with this opportunity to teach and help her. She is amazing, and I've learned so much from her. Also, we spent all Sunday with her. She joined us for our studies, and we were able to go to a YSA fireside with her in Wan Chai. It was really good. Wow we are just so blessed to have met her, to have the opportunity to teach her. She is amazing.

Also one morning a random person whatsapped us and asked us if we had time to meet. We had no idea who he was, but figured that we are missionaries....so we set a time and place and went to meet this man. Okay, so it turns out he's amazing. We taught him the restoration. But the coolest part was he told us about this story. How he tried one time to quit smoking....but he couldn't on his own. So he asked God to help him. And with God's help he quit smoking. It was actually really cool. Hopefully, we will have the opportunity to meet with him again and turn him over to the Elders.

Also, this week was move calls. Sister Johnson is leaving, and I'm getting a new companion Sister Hodson! It is bittersweet. I feel like I know nothing about this area. Also I don't know where anything is...so this will be interesting, but I am excited and also scared hahah. But everything will work out right?

Thank you for all of your prayers. and support. I hope that you are all doing well.  Hope that you all have a great week!

Tastes Like Gross Sponge -- Week 20

Wow this week was good. First off I tried so many different foods. I ate chicken feet, stomach, liver, lung, and intestine. I also ate vegetarian pig stomach....so I don't really know how that works. But yeah. Many different foods....but I really don't like liver. It's not good at all. It tastes like a gross sponge.

We have the cutest girl we are teaching who will be baptized next week! We are so excited. We have had the opportunity to meet with her everyday this past week except Monday. It has been so good. She is the one with the twin sister. I love her so much. I feel like we have a lot of the same experiences...every single day I am so happy to meet with her. Also sometimes we help her do her homework....in high school I would help people with math....I should have know I would do the same here. It's so funny because I know how to do the problems, but I have very limited Chinese. So hopefully she understands. She says she does, and Sister Johnson is also a lot of help. So it works out....I think.

Also this week one of our wards had a relief society activity. It was a "hike." So we went with them, and it ended up being really good, and we were able to strengthen our relationships with the members....but it was literally a nature walk. hahah I thought it would be an actual hike. I should have known because it was with a bunch of old ladies....

Also this week we had an FHE and it was really good....except for the fact that half of the time was spent talking about marijuana. I never thought I would listen to others talk about it in Chinese....so I guess that is a fun experience....Oh we also played 2 truths and a lie. The elders had someone they are teaching with them, and one of his things he said was "I have three wives." Everyone just laughed....and we are all thankful that that wasn't true.

This week I also went on exchanges again with Sister Law. I moved to Fanling for a day. We met this really funny lady. She was trying to ask for help with something on her phone, but neither of us understood what she was saying. So then I just changed the subject and asked her about her family and stuff. We ended up talking for like 20 minutes in broken Chinese. But it was good. She was super cute and nice.

Oh also I had to give a training this week in district council. I was to pick a section of scriptures and then lead a discussion about it....I changed what I was suppose to do, and made everyone pick their favorite scripture about Jesus and then tell why. I just like when everyone shares and I could feel the spirit as we talked about Christ. I don't know about everyone else, but I thought it went okay.

Anyways thanks for all the prayers and support. I am so thankful for you all. I love being here in Hong Kong. I love being a missionary. There are hard things, and hard days, but I truly am so happy. Thank you all. Love you guys.

Gummies for Conference -- Week 19

WOW WOW WOW. This week was so good. We had Conference, interviews, and the temple all in the same week!! It was so good. for conference we bought so many gummies. They were so good...but I ate too many lol. But really conference and interviews and the temple were all so good.

We also have the cutest 14 year old girl we are teaching. She has a twin sister....who is in the hosptial right now. Anyways this girl has a baptismal date for the 28th and we are so excited. But it is really cool. She and her sister don't have the best relationship....and I know what that is like...sorry Cassidy hahah. I had tears in my eyes as I was talking to her. She is so worried about her sister, and doesn't know how to help her. I just said you can pray for her. And then I told her that when I have read the Book of Mormon, even when I don't understand what it is saying, or what is happening I've felt peace. This girl is really amazing.

hopefully that made sense hahah.

Also this week we met with a lady we met on the street like a month ago. We met her at Mcdonalds, and it was probably the worst lesson ever.  We tried to teach her about Heavenly Father, but then she got confused and thought that we were talking about her real father. She said that he doesn't love her because she didn't go to college. And then She told us her life story and how that her son is not a good person, and has no money. So she has to pay for her granddaughter to go to school and pay for everything for her. But she doesn't have any money either. Then she got up and said she had to go to work which is gambling. It was so funny. But not a good lesson hahah.

This week I also went on exchanges with sister Law again! She's so cute. It was really cool while on exchanges we were on the MTR, and I had a really random conversation with this man. It did't end up having anything come out of it. But when I got off I told sister Law, "I took spanish for 2 years, and there is no way I could have had that exact same conversation in spanish." God really does bless us. There is no way I could speak and understand the little I can without His help.

I hope you all are doing good. Thank you for all the prayers. they truly are appreciated. I am so thankful for this opportunity I have to serve a mission and be here in Hong Kong. Love you all.

I really knew nothing before -- Week 18

Wow this week really had so many blessings. We were able to teach so many different people! We were also able to give a baptismal to the cutest girl! She contacted us because we had met her friend on the street. She said that she wanted to meet! So we did, and taught her like 3 times this past week! She is amazing! She has a twin sister, and one day she asked us if we could visit her twin in the hospital with her. So we did.

But then only 2 visitors are allowed at a time. So we have the sight and sound rule where you have to be with your companion all the time...so we told them and so then just sister Johnson and I went in first. But then they made us put on a mask, hair net, gown and gloves. So she couldn't even tell who we were lol. And it's the first time we have ever met her. It was so funny...and so strange. And it's hard enough that my Chinese isn't great, and then a stupid mask that makes it so you can't understand a word I say lol.

But anyway we just talked at her at first because she was kind of out it...but she said she doesn't like being there because she can't use her phone. So we asked her if she liked to read and then gave her a Book of Mormon. It was very strange. Two white girls she's never met, and all you could see was our eyes...hahah it was a great experience. I love being a missionary.

Also this week there was one day that we were literally at the church all day. We taught 5 different lessons! It was amazing.

I can't believe that I've been gone for 4 months. Time is a weird thing. I love being a missionary. I've learned so much. There have been hard times, but it's always worth it. God really loves his missionaries and loves every single one of his children. We are all the same....here in Hong Kong, America, Germany, or anywhere. We all are his children. We are just trying to figure out life and our purpose. Which is what this Gospel teaches all of us. And answers all of our questions!

I love you all. I hope you are all doing well. Thank you for all the prayers. Thanks for all the support. I know I am truly blessed. I am learning so much. I really knew nothing before. Love you all.
