Kills it everyday -- Week 34

Well this week has been a good one! This week we did lots of random things. Sister Sloan is still not fully recovered, but she still kills it everyday.

This week we had a turnover lesson with the Tsuen Wan elders, and it was this girl named Rainbow. Anyway we were just sitting at this park trying to teach her about Christ and the Book of Mormon, and she just starts smoking...which is great. But then she turns her head to blow the smoke and the wind blew it right back into our faces....lol I had to try so hard not to cough. It was a very interesting lesson. We gave her the book, and she said she's started to read it. So that's good.

Also this week we had a balloon animal making activity. We showed up and I'm actually pretty good at it. I have a hidden talent....on of the elders asked me if I was a clown or something before the mission. So if you ever want a balloon pig let me know.

Everything is going great here in Hong Kong. Sister Sloan and I just laugh our heads off at everything...maybe we need to be more serious like Cassidy and her comps.....Oh well. No one is perfect probably will just keep laughing and teaching repentance and baptizing converts.

I hope you are all doing well this week. Thank you all for your support and prayers. They are much appreciated. Remember to look for the miracles throughout everyday. Love you all

Covering 5 Wards--Week 33

well this week has been interesting. I was sick, and sister sloan was immobile, but don't worry she is good and recovering. It only takes us an hour to get places that usually take 15 min...lol.

This week we had interview with President and transfer calls. Sister Sloan and I will stay companions, but now we will be covering 5 wards. I now feel bad for the Utah missionaries who cover 3 stakes. It'll be an interesting transfer.

This week we tried to go finding one day, but sister sloan couldn't really walk, so she literally said to someone "come here." They just looked at her and walked away. It was so funny. I just laughed after that. And then we ran into a person who had been taught before, and she just told her she shouldn't be out walking.

I have learned a lot this week. I've learned that God is really there. He knows each and everyone of us and the situation we are in. That He listens and answers our prayers. I'm so thankful for this opportunity I have to be here serving the Lord. I have learned so much.

thank you all for your prayers. I hope you all are doing well, and hope you all have a good week.

Be careful when you pray--Week 32

hello!

sorry this is really short, but this week has been full of adventures! Currently we are at the ER because my and I were praying into comp study, and we stood up and all of a sudden her knee hurt. then she couldn't walk for 2 days. so we ended up here. We decided to only speak English because neither of us know any medical terms in Chinese.

also this week there was one day that literally we just ate all day. We had members take us out to breakfast, then we met with one of the RS presidents and she took us to lunch, then we met with a returning member, and she brought us bread, and then we had the cutest couple take us to dinner. we ate some weird bird...but it was pretty good.

keep reading your scriptures and praying....but be careful when you stand up. you don't want to end up in the ER.

lol love you all. thanks for all of your prayers.

Happy New Year I Guess Because Everyone Else Uses That -- Week 31

Wow this week was filled with many miracles and different things.

Well first we went to church yesterday, and we walked in and on the second floor there was water everywhere....I guess one of the toilets broke and flooded. So they cancelled the second hour of church lol.

This week we were also able to meet with this really inresting lady. We found her number and called her, and scheduled her. When we met she had so many questions about why there are so many different churches, and where we go after this life, and what makes our church different. It was really cool, and a miracle. She said that her son asks her all these questions, and she doesn't know how to answer them. Hopefully we will have an opportunity to meet with her again soon.

Also the other day we were out finding and I started talking to this lady on the street, she let us sit down with her, and then invited us into her house. We went inside, and tried to teach the Restoration....but she got a little sidetracked. We also tried to give her a Book of Mormon, but I guess we didn't make it clear, and she thought she had to buy it. But then I tried to explain that it was free. so then she took it. But as we left she tried to pay us. It was very interesting lol.

Well sorry no time, but hope you are all doing well. thank you for all your prayers and support. Hope you had a happy new year.

Happy New Year -- Week 30

This week was good! We saw many miracles here. Hope everyone had a very Merry Christmas, and has a happy new year.

One of the things I learned this week was about love, and the power of the spirit. We had a really intresting lesson. So we were turning over this lady to the mandarin sisters, because she speaks mandarin. And so the lesson/conversation was all in Mandarin, but because of the spirit we were able to share things, not even knowing what was said, but relying fully on the spirit. It was a really cool experience, and I learned many things from that lesson.

Also another thing that happened was we went with a not so active member to visit her mom in the hospital. It was really good, but really sad. Her mom had a stroke....but anyway while we were there another member came and did acupuncture. It was so intresting, and so weird all at the same time. I can't believe people actually do things like that (sorry if you believe that it helps). It was so weird. And then some other old lady was asking Sister Sloan if she would help her change her shirt. It was so funny. But sister Sloan didn't understand, so just said sorry and walked away.

Hope you all had a great Christmas, and have a happy new year. Thank you all for your prayers and support. Love you all.

(From the mom:  Seeing Cass & Ellie on Christmas was the best blessing ever. They wanted to see each other, so we did Google Hangout.  We caught Ellie at 3pm in Hong Kong on Christmas Afternoon, which was 8 am in Germany on Christmas morning,  and midnight Christmas Eve for us. It was so much fun to see them both and to all get to talk together again as a family.  We laughed so much!)

Merry Christmas All! -- Week 29

Merry Christmas all! Sorry I don't have much time!

This week has been filled with many little miracles. I've learned the more specific your prayers are, the more specific your answers will be. For example this week we were leaving the apartment to go finding, and I prayed us out. I said, "Help us have the opportunity to teach the Restoration." Usually I would just say something like "help us have an opportunity to teach." But anyway we got to the area we decided we would find, and within 15 minutes we had sat down with this girl and taught her the restoration. It was a direct answer to prayers.

I'm thankful for the opportunity that we all have at this time of year to celebrate Christ. To celebrate His life. I'm so thankful for the sacrifice that He has made for me. I know that through Him we can all return to our loving Father in Heaven. He knows each and every one of us. He knows our struggles and our weaknesses, but in Him everything is possible.

I am so thankful for the opportunity I have to be here in Hong Kong, and serve these people. I am thankful for the knowledge of our Savior.

Thank you all for your support and prayers. I hope we can all remember the true meaning of Christmas. Hope you all have a Merry Christmas.

Don't say "I like your scarf..." -- Week 28

Well this week has been good. It was really weird to close my last area. And super weird to be white washing. We are over Shing Mun and Kwai Chung. And since we are whitewashing that means we had to haul all of our stuff all the way to our new home.

My new comp is Sister Sloan. She is amazing. I love her. We both have no idea what we are doing. So it's great. We were able to find the church....so that was good. Also both wards seem really nice. We were able to meet them on Sunday. But we didn't stay the whole time because President Phillips gave us permission to go back to Tai Wo for the baptism!!!! It was so good! Also I attempted to translate for Sister Hodson's dad that was there....it was so hard. Props to all the people who can translate.

Also this week we were out on the street finding, and I stopped this lady and told her I liked her scarf....because I'm really bad at stopping people so I just say the I like their shirt or something. Anyway she took her scarf off right there and gave it to me. It was so funny. I tried to say no and give it back but she wouldn't take it. She said she was too hot.

This week has been good. It's been interesting. I'm not really sure why we are here in this area. Two of us who have no idea what we are doing...but I'm excited to figure out.

Thank you all for your prayers. They are really appreciated. I hope you are all doing well. Love you all.
